Food wastage is fast assuming serious dimensions. According to the food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) a staggering 1.3 billion tonnes of food is being wasted annually. The world produces enough to feed twice the world?s present population then also Global hunger Index represents another story. Food wastage is generating nearly 3.3 billion tones of green house gas emissions. Hence Food wastage is proving one of the biggest risks to global stability.
Our GVC team had organised on awareness programme on Food Wastage. A telegenic presentation on the topic Global Food Challenge versus Food Wastage was demonstrated on small screen for the parents on the day of PTM.
Although various initiatives
have been taken by government and NSOs to remove the hindrances between the
hunger and the unused food; awareness in masses can mark a significant
difference. To serve the purpose our students had demonstrated facts and
informations among visitors. Methods to use leftover food were informed.
Parents were asked to use food products economically. Parents took oath to
contribute effectively to deal with the problem of Food Wastage. The concept
of Indian culture Worship of food and offering of food and Annapurna The
Goddess of Food were narrated to strengthen the concept.
