Evaluation Criterion

NURSERY AND PRE-PRIMARY

EVALUATION:-Research has shown that tests are not accurate when measuring children’s abilities as they do not understand the concept of testing. We cannot compare one child’s ‘score’ with another’s. No formal tests are conducted as children develop at different rates and comparison at this stage is meaningless.

A child’s progress is measured by the teacher’s ongoing observations over the whole year. This progress is compared to his/her previous development and not to other children.

The teacher records the child’s progress in three ways:-

  1. Descriptive Journal/Log Book/Anecdotal Record.
  2. Checklist
  3. Collection of work.
